Thermal fixing of 3D fabrics
Objective:
As part of the project, a fixing system that was specifically tailored to the properties of 3D textiles was to be developed for the first time. The new system to be constructed should ensure that the fixed mats have the desired final dimensions. The spacer fabrics should be heated and cooled in a defined form. Preliminary tests have shown that employing a needle plate in combination with an infrared heat source is a budget-friendly option.
The fixing process should run automatically. The entire system should require only one operator. Due to the high degree of mechanisation, damage to the spacer fabrics caused by human influence during the fixing was avoided.
